Trade Wars

Training Route / by Captain ‘O’ & Gravel Girl

We like this ride on a warm spring day when the snow has melted out below 6000 feet. There are several peek-a-boo views of the mountains to the west, but the ride is mostly in the forest. It makes for a great early season training route when you want to get a bit of consistent climbing in your legs (2000 feet in 15 miles) and … it can easily be lengthened by starting in town and riding Brookswood to and from the start (+ 15 miles). Note, the roads need a bit of moisture, otherwise there can be a significant amount of “moon dust“.

We (Gravel Girl and Captain O) have ridden the route in its entirety. This is a route Captain O can see riding with the boys to go hard and fast and “beat the snot out” of each other.

This route was created and mapped by DennisK, a Dirty Freehub Route Ambassador.

  1. Hi Anonymous…. We looked at all the roads on our route and they are all public. So not sure if you were off course or someone was giving out fake news. Or maybe you were on Scalehouse which near Knott is private property and our route doesn’t use this. Happy trails. Gravel Girl

    1. I did see that you found a way around Scale House Road! Nice! I missed that yesterday, as it was under snow. Carry on with great work. Happy Trails.

  2. I rode this today 4/14/20. There’s a section of Stackhouse Rd. that is Private Property. The property owner was angry and threatened to have me arrested for trespassing, “and all my other Lycra clad fairy friends trespassing on his property!” Just a heads up. He’s a real kind and generous human.
