Bitten by the Bulldog

A fun but demanding, mixed (gravel + tarmac) ride near Phoenix.

The ride starts with some easy, really fun, single track through Usery Mountain Regional park, then  a 4-mile paved transit to the start of the Bulldog Canyon — the highlight of the ride. Bulldog Canyon is a slightly descending jeep road with great desert scenery and far reaching views of the Superstition Mountains. The ride finishes up with a paved climb up to Usery pass, 700 feet over 3 miles – a local favorite of road riders.

The first half of Bulldog Canyon is very demanding, you will want 40 mm tires on your gravel bike and exceptional technical skills. Others will prefer a mountain bike. (Even with 40 mm tires, the dog bit me once!)
