Rides that are more than road rides. They may include bike paths, forest service roads, gravel roads and single track. Adventure rides are categorized by style:
- Roubaix – a road ride with some short sections of quality gravel roads included. Best ridden with a standard road bike, given a capable rider.
- Mixed – a ride that includes about 50% paved with some mixture of bike paths, gravel / fire roads, and possibly a bit of single track. Best ridden with a cross / gravel bike.
- Gravel – a ride that is mostly gravel / fire roads. Best ridden with a cross / gravel bike or mountain bike.
In the “flyout” menu to the right of “Adventure”, you will find the Dirty Freehub list of recommended rides. We have personally ridden each of these rides and consider them to be the best of the best, 4 stars or better out of 5 stars.
By clicking on the active hyper link you will get a complete description and pictorial of the ride including an interactive map with route, elevation profile, downloadable directions via GPX and TCX files.
Note that we no longer provide turn by turn directions as this is the least successful way to navigate a ride and is by far the most time consuming task in keeping rides up to date and accurate.
